We’re looking for a Full-Stack Head of Web Engineering who can roll up their sleeves, code across the stack, and still set the technical and strategic direction for our web platform. This role blends hands-on development, architectural vision, and leadership, but unlike many senior roles, we want someone who is still close to the code — comfortable in both frontend and backend environments, leading by example.

We would love you to have...

• A strong full-stack engineering background, with hands-on coding experience across frontend and backend.
• Deep expertise in .NET / C# backends, React frontends, and Azure cloud environments.
• Proven experience designing and running microservices architectures.
• A background in building or scaling high-scale B2C platforms (experience in ecommerce, travel, or bookings is a strong plus).
• Hands-on experience with complex third-party integrations (e.g. payments, booking systems, APIs, marketing/analytics platforms).
• A track record of leading multi-disciplinary full-stack teams, while remaining close to the technology yourself.
• A pragmatic approach to decision-making — balancing deadlines, business needs, and engineering best practices.
• Experience in mentoring engineers, setting standards, and driving continuous team improvement.

What you can do for us...

• Lead by coding full-stack: Contribute directly to our booking platform (React, .NET, Azure, Umbraco), building features, fixing critical issues, and guiding technical decisions with first-hand experience.
• Microservices architecture: Shape and evolve our microservices-based ecosystem, ensuring resilience, scalability, and maintainability.
• Complex integrations: Design and manage architecture that integrates with a wide range of third-party systems (payments, channel managers, CRM, analytics, etc.).
• Manage a high-energy, capable team: Lead and inspire a full-stack team of frontend and backend engineers, helping them grow while maintaining your credibility by staying hands-on.
• Set direction & strategy: Own the technical roadmap for our web platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and conversion optimization.
• Balance trade-offs: Make pragmatic calls between speed-to-market and technical debt, ensuring deadlines are hit without sacrificing long-term stability.
• Drive quality & performance: Champion engineering excellence through code reviews, observability, automated testing, and performance tuning.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with Product, Design, and Commercial to align engineering priorities with business outcomes.
